One Page 2022-2023 School Calendar One Page School Calendar 2021-2022 ***Accuweather.com*** District News Bites Archived News Community Update from Mr. Flatley, Interim Superintendent On May 31, members of our community alerted us to their concerns about a person who was walking in the vicinity of Commack Middle School on Vanderbilt Parkway. As part of our routine security procedures, in addition to community calls to 911, we notified the Suffolk County Police Department of these concerns and they responded immediately. Today, as a follow up to this incident, several officers from the Second Precinct met with school and district administrators at the middle school to share information about the young person involved in yesterday’s incident. I share this information for two reasons. Firstly, to let concerned community members know why police officers were present at the Middle School this morning. Most importantly, as a thank you to those members of our community who alerted us to yesterday’s concerns. As I have mentioned before, this level of communication is key to the safety of all. I also thank the police department for their outstanding partnership with our school district as we work together to continue to monitor this situation. Looking Up - One Student's View Brandon B. is a current junior at Commack High School and an amateur astrophotographer. He spends hours outside photographing countless near earth and deep space objects, such as the moon, planets, satellites, nebulas, and galaxies and doesn't sleep much! His passion for astrophotography and astronomy began after he bought his first telescope in 2018. Our thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences are with the students and their families and with the teachers; administrators; first responders; friends; and all the good people of Uvalde. We also remember in our prayers the nurses, trauma surgeons, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals and law enforcement officers all pressed into service under challenging, heartbreaking circumstances.
